A New Beginning

I was just reading through my old blog posts. Its amazing how life changes, My life right now looks so different than what it was a few short years ago. My blogging came to a halt because we got a foster placement, twin girls. They are fraternal twins, otherwise known around here as "fraturtles," that's how they say it. Having them with us was a real adjustment. They, like most four year olds, require a lot of attention but these may have needed just a little bit more than usual. OK, maybe a lot more! Looking back we laugh at the struggles in the beginning, tantrums, coaxing them out from under the bed at bedtime and the biting, can't forget the biting. Good times! They have come along way adjusting to their new life with us. In February it will be the first anniversary of their adoption. Yay! It took forever to get there and now its almost been a year! And on top of that I started working after 10 years of being a homemaker. Talk about an adjustment period!

Other changes, I am now working two jobs, both part time. I work from home mostly but my work does require traveling a few times a month. My husband just retired in September after a successful 25 year career in law enforcement. We have looked forward to this for a long time. I am homeschooling the girls, H & R. They are in second grade, this is our first year of homeschool, so far so good.

Some things are still the same, we still have animals. Currently we have 2 La Mancha milking goats, that we haven't milked yet, Velma and her kid Jumper.  1 pig, Wilber, who we will butcher soon and a bunch of chickens.

We haven't gardened seriously in a few years. I hope to change that this year. Going out of town a few days a month doesn't make it easy but we will try. We did try last year. We planted a bunch of potatoes, onions and garlic and a squirrel got them all. A squirrel. We live in Southwestern NM, you'd think squirrels would be one of the last things we'd have to worry about. That kinda killed our desires. We did have a few chile plants.

I am very much looking forward to the new year and hope to get back to blogging. I have really missed it!
